Sarawak (Borneo)

Sarawak

Currently the biggest state in Malaysia, in the past it was an Independent kingdom under the Brook dynasty. It is located on the island of Borneo, it occupies the north western part of the Island.  To the east of it lies the Brunei Sulatanate and the Malaysian state of Sabah. The south of the island is part of Indonesia.

There is a rich tradition of different cultures languages and traditions. The area is most known for the infamous head hunters who, interestingly, do not necessarily have negative connotations locally. A lot of businesses are called head hunter this or that. The local tribes are proud of their tradition and their resistance to the Brunei sultanate and later the Brooke dynasty.

I am currently living and working in Sarawak I would like to show people some of the wonderfull places you can visit here. I am trying to pick the more interesting ones which are a little off the beaten tourist path.

Enjoy the lecture and the pictures.

  1. Hi, nice to read your blog. Especially the ones about laksa. Since my favourite place has been closed, near Jln. Keretapi, next to Aunty’s Corner, I’m still searching.

Anyway, drop by my blog when you’re free.
